McLaren begin three-day test in Spain with Montoya and Wurz

Team McLaren Mercedes began a three day test at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain today, with Juan Pablo Montoya, Kimi Raikkonen and Alex Wurz sharing the week's testing
duties.

This week also marks the team's final testing session before the six week summer test ban comes into force. Juan Pablo Montoya and Alex Wurz were in action today in extremely
hot conditions, the track temperature reaching 51 degrees Celsius. Both drivers were
behind the wheel of MP4-20s.

Juan Pablo Montoya's programme included Michelin tyre testing of the prime and option tyre for the forthcoming German Grand Prix, alongside suspension and aero development work. His programme was interrupted early on due to an engine oil leak. After returning to the track in the afternoon he suffered an engine failure.

Alex Wurz meanwhile was working on a tyre programme for the German Grand Prix, completing short runs this morning and concentrating on heavy fuel loads and longer runs this afternoon.

Montoya was the eighth fastest man on the circuit with a time of 1:18.579, while Wurz was ninth setting a time of 1:18.709.

Juan Pablo Montoya will be joined by Kimi Raikkonen at the circuit tomorrow.
